PADDOX PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
11 October 2011
Harvest Assembly – Our harvest assemblies will take place on Thursday 20th October. There will be two assemblies. One at 9.15 a.m. and another at 10.45 a.m. Due to new fire restrictions, a maximum of two seats per family will be available. Please complete the slip at the bottom of this letter [click here for this newsletter with attached slip - pdf] to indicate which assembly you would like to attend. (Tickets will not actually be distributed, but please do not bring additional people on the day).
As usual we will be having a collection at the end rather than bringing in harvest gifts. The collection will go to the Thandigoudi Children’s Home in India, that we support each year.
Communication with School – If there is a problem please speak to your child’s class teacher first. If this does not resolve the problem then please write a letter to me, so that I can look in to the matter. I will then either speak to parents or write back. Please do not use e-mail to communicate with me as I do not have time to respond to these. We have more pupils in school than we have ever had, so my time is in even greater demand.
Dogs in the Playground – Please do not bring dogs into the playground when you are collecting children. For obvious health and safety reasons dogs are not allowed on any school premises.
Changes to the Curriculum – Over the last two half terms we have started making some curriculum changes, involving the children in experiential learning projects. These have been very well received by pupils and have produced some quality work.
After School Clubs – This term or at beginning of the next half term, the following clubs are taking place for pupils in Years 3-6. Separate letters for each club have gone out or will be going out at the appropriate time.

Footwear in P.E. (Y3-6) - As your children grow out of their pumps, please replace them with trainers. Children have bare feet for gymnastics and dance, so they do not need pumps. When doing the Key Stage 2 P.E .curriculum, their other lesson is outside and their feet are better protected in trainers.
Please note, these do not need to be expensive designer ones!
Car Parking & Scooters– Can I please remind parents that the ‘Old Acorn site’ is now privately leased and should not be used by parents for car parking.
Can I also ask that parents do not allow children to bring scooters, or other wheeled toys, onto the site when collecting children at the end of the day. The path is not very wide and small children on scooters only add to the congestion.
School aged children riding bikes and scooters to school should not ride them up the path. They must dismount and walk up the path please.
Bikes and scooters should only be in school as a method of ‘green transport’ and not to be used as toys for children to play on and compare.
