OFSTED – I would like to congratulate everyone connected with our school on the “Outstanding” judgement achieved during our OFSTED inspection. We are still awaiting the final report, but I have read the draft report, which is quite amazing and reads very well. It is also a good match for our self evaluation, which is pleasing. I would like to thank parents for their support during the inspection, as we also amazed inspectors at the high response we had to the parents questionnaire. The children were very supportive and are quite rightly proud of their school. We will distribute the final report for you to read as soon as it arrives. Unfortunately because of OFSTED we are now struggling to try to catch up with things before the end of term.
BUILDING WORK – The building work is progressing well but we are now getting to the worst part, which is where it starts to intrude into the Oak site building. From Saturday onwards we are going to be boarded up ready to connect the two buildings. This means that three rooms are having to be cleared including my office. I will be extremely busy until the summer sorting out and clearing the Acorn site. This means that my response to parents may take longer than usual because we are working to very tight deadlines with the building work.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS – Can I remind parents that clubs finish at 4.30 p.m. It is unacceptable for children not to be collected at that time. If you cannot collect your child at that time, they should not be attending the club. Staff are not paid to run these clubs and when they finish, staff are tired and want to go home. This week children have still not been collected by 4.50 p.m.
SPORTSHALL – Congratulations to the school sportshall team who won their heat and will now compete in the Rugby final next week.
NETBALL – Well done to the netball team who won their heat and also won the town final last night.
CROSS COUNTRY – Good luck to the cross country teams who compete next Thursday at Binley Woods Primary School.
PARENT INTERVIEWS – Interview time slips will be sent home on Thursday. Interviews will take place on both sites in your child’s own classroom next Tuesday and Thursday. You will be able to look at your child’s work before the interview. If your child is being taught by Mrs Semmence she will be available on Tuesday after school to talk to parents. I will not be available until later on the Thursday as I will be going to the team cross country event.
CHARITY CAKE SALE – The children want to hold charity cake sales each term and the School Council are organising this. A different year group will be responsible for bringing in the cakes each time and for choosing the charity.
END OF TERM – School finishes on Friday 26th March at normal time and we return on Monday 12th April. On this day children may bring in a quiet game that can be played with friends. No electronic or expensive games please.
Have a relaxing Easter break.
