Children In Need – As a school we are very conscious that lately we have been asking parents for money for various things (photographs, art work, book clubs etc. and donations for the forthcoming Christmas Fair), therefore we are trying to keep our activities for Children In Need this Friday, simple.  We will be raffling a Pudsey Bear on each site. To give everyone an equal chance each child may buy only one ticket for which they should give a minimum of 20p, but if anybody wishes to donate more that is up to them.

Christmas Fair – FOPS Christmas Fair is on Friday 27th November.  We will have a non-uniform day next Monday, 23rd November in exchange for an item for the fair please. (Bottles for the tombola, tins, smellies)  No white elephant items please.  We look forward to seeing you on  Friday 27th from 3.30 p.m. onwards.

Pantomime – We have arranged for a travelling theatre company to come into school at the beginning of December, to perform Aladdin for children on the Oak site and Goldilocks for children on the Acorn site.  We have asked for a voluntary contribution of £2.40 towards the cost.  If you have not already sent this in, could you do so as soon as possible please.

Open Afternoon – I would like to invite parents to come into school and look round on Wednesday 25th November between 3.20 p.m. and 3.45 p.m.  We have some wonderful artwork in both of the buildings.  You are welcome to look round either/both sites, not just the one that your child is on.  Staff will be about, but not to talk about individual children’s progress.

After School Clubs – There are different types of after school clubs and care, and I think this is causing some confusion for some parents.  After school and holiday care is provided by Holly Lodge.  This is paid provision.  For further details phone Rugby 575563.  This provision is sometimes called an after school club.

Educational after school clubs are provided by the school.  These take place at lunchtimes and after school.  They are provided free of charge and staff kindly run these in their own time.  They are not paid for doing this.  A variety of clubs take place each term.  This term we are offering – boys and girls football, netball, art, choir, board games, chess, knitting and sewing.

Each term different clubs are offered.  Monday is always a popular night for clubs as staff are less tired and they usually have less marking to do.  We never have school clubs on Tuesday nights, because we have staff meetings.  We only run clubs for junior aged children as we feel that the Acorn children are too young and tired at the end of the school day.  There are also issues to do with ensuring that children are safely collected by an adult.  We also need staff from the whole school to enable is to offer a variety of clubs to the juniors.

Sometimes we offer clubs run by our Sports Partnership.  These are sometimes run at our school and sometimes at Ashlawn School.  Although we can request clubs, we do not control which we are offered or the groups they target.  This decision is made by Ashlawn.  Sometimes we offer paid clubs eg. football at lunchtime for Acorn site children.  These are run by private providers and the fees have to cover the running costs.

The number of clubs offered by the school is very good in comparison to most schools.
