PADDOX PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
18th September 2008

Firstly welcome back after the summer break and especially to all our new parents, carers and children. I hope you all have a very happy association with Paddox Primary School.

Car Parks Mostly for the benefit of our new parents, can I please ask you not to park on the school site at the start and end of the school day. Parents are not allowed to park on the school site. When parking in the roads surrounding the school, please do not obstruct the local residents' driveways or park on the corners of the roads, or on the yellow zig-zag lines. We get a number of complaints from residents each year about car parking. Also, the police do spot checks periodically.

Parents of children on the Acorn site - would you please not walk across the car park, but use the small gate on Fareham Avenue (near to Holly Lodge Nursery), as this is a safe pedestrian route.

Photographs – will be taken on Friday 3rd October. As always, we will take children from the Oak site to have their photographs taken with siblings on the Acorn site. All children will have individual photographs taken as well.

Parent Teacher Interviews – Letters have gone out for interviews which will be on either Tuesday 7th October or Wednesday 8th October. Please send your forms back as soon as possible to enable teachers to allocate a time.

FOPS (Friends of Paddox School ) – will be holding their AGM at 2.15 p.m. on Wednesday 15th October on the Oak site. Please join them for a cup of coffee and find out what is going on. FOPS raise a considerable amount of money each year, to help fund things that the school would not normally be able to afford out of its normal school budget.

Harvest Assembly – This will be on 22nd October at 9.15 a.m. in the Oak site hall.

Half Term/Training Day – We break for half term on Friday 24th October for one week. We have a staff training day on Monday 10th November.

Free Swimming – The opportunity has arisen for children in Years 4, 5, or 6 who are currently unable to swim 25 meters, to receive a free place on an intensive swimming course during the October half term holiday. Pupils will receive five half hour sessions at Ken Marriott Leisure Centre. There will be two sessions, one from 9.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. and the other from 10.00 a.m. until 10.30 a.m.

In order to book a place please contact Mrs Brennan (Eastern Warwickshire School Sport Partnership) o 01788 812549 ext. 304 Monday to Friday OR by e-mail at admin@ewschoolsport.org.uk.

Wildplay Fun – If you and your family like to play outside then Wildplay is for you. The sessions explore the beautiful Ashlawn Cutting Nature Reserve, with games ranging from scavenger hunts to bug hunts. The programme is for children aged 6+ and is completely FREE! (Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult).

Wildplay meets at the Ashlawn Cutting Nature Reserve car park (off Ashlawn Road), every Saturday from 11.30 – 12.30 until the end of September.

It is run by the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust in partnership with Rugby Borough Council and the Big Lottery Fund. Please go dressed appropriately.
