PADDOX PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
20 April 2010

Building Work – The building work is on track and is due to complete on Friday 23rd July.  It is very unlikely that anyone will be able to go into the new building before the Summer holidays.  One cycle shed is being provided as part of the work.  The school will then increase the number of cycle sheds as soon as we can.  During the second part of this term we will be increasing the number of times that infants visit the Oak site, to get them ready for September.  This weekend there is major work being carried out in the entrance hall.  All of this is taking up a lot of my time, so I apologise to parents if my response time is slow, if you have a concern.
It will be like this for the rest of the term.

History of the Acorn Site – We are putting together any documentation that we have and are researching the history of the Acorn site.  Before it closes we will hold an exhibition.  Mrs Goode is doing the research on my behalf.  If you have any documents or photographs that we can use or that can be copied, please talk to Mrs Goode.  We would prefer copies rather than precious originals.  If you have any memories, please write them down so that they can be included.  Parents and members of the community will be invited to the exhibition.

PE Kit – All children need their PE kit in school EVERY day.  (Please make sure all clothes are named).  During the summer term classes always go out to do PE and children need their kit.

In September, because we only have one hall, PE times will need to be flexible and more lessons will be outside, so again the children will need their kit in school every day.

Adventure Playground – Can I remind parents that children are NOT allowed to play on the adventure playground after school.  Our risk assessments state that the area has to be assessed before use and there has to be a member of staff present when it is in use.  Some parents are allowing their children to play on there and to run all over the school gardens.  This is also not acceptable, as we work hard to make the school grounds attractive.

Dogs – Dogs are not allowed on the school grounds to avoid fouling and the risk of dog bites.  Please do not tie your dogs to the Holly Lodge railings as this is still on the school grounds.

Sportshall Athletics – Well done to our sportshall team who won  the Greater Warwickshire final yesterday by an incredible 46 points.

Water Bottles – All children need a water bottle to use in the classroom.  These should be taken home for cleaning and returned to school the next day.

Make-Up – Please can I remind parents that children are not allowed to wear make-up in school.  If girls wear nail varnish it should be clear or pale pink.  I do not expect to hear that children are modelling their nail varnish in class, as has happened recently.

School Dinners – Children cannot keep changing from school meals to sandwiches.  Children must either have a school dinner or sandwiches for the whole week and the money paid on a Monday please, which is when the money has to be banked.  When children keep changing it leads to errors in the registers and the school then has to pay for the meal ordered which is totally unacceptable.  The children themselves forget whether they are having dinners or sandwiches and give teachers the wrong information for the dinner registers.

Tennis – Harris School are hosting a tennis day this Saturday 24th April from       9.30 – 3.00 p.m. All sessions are FREE!!  Times vary for different age groups but if you are interested please phone Chris Cash on 07590572454  or e-mail chriscash2@mac.com

Closures – School will be closed on Monday 3rd May for the May Day holiday and also Thursday 6th May which is voting day.

Summer FairThe Summer Fair will take place on Saturday 17th July.

Moving House – We are having a considerable number of enquiries for places in our school.  If you know that you will be moving house between now and the start of the September term, and your child will be leaving Paddox School, would you please let the office staff know.
