School Closure
School will be closed next week on Monday 4th May for the May Day holiday and also Thursday 7th May for a Staff Training Day.

Dogs – In the last few weeks we have had several incidences of dog fouling on both school sites because people are bringing dogs onto the school premises.  Can I please remind everyone that dogs are not allowed on the premises at any time.  This includes exercising dogs on the school fields.

Water Bottles – Children need to bring a water bottle into school every day to use in their classrooms.  They must only contain water. It is important that these bottles are named and are cleaned regularly at home.

Live Music in Schools – Today a folk group has visited school and entertained all the children on both sites.

P E Kit – During the Summer term it is essential that all children have their PE kit in school every day.  We often do extra lessons on PE in the summer so it is important that everyone has kit.

Sport – Good luck to Years 3 and 5 children who are representing Paddox on Wednesday in the swimming gala.  Well done to our Year 4 and Year 6 pupils who swam last week.  Our Year 6 girls relay team won their event.

Well done to those children who were involved in the county indoor athletics final yesterday.  We were a very creditable second.

Rugby School Art Gallery – On Thursday 30th April, Rugby School are hosting a Mini Olympics Sporting Event and Art display.  Lord Sebastian Coe will be visiting Rugby School during the event on Thursday.  Paddox Primary School are entering teams in the Tag Rugby, Kwik Cricket and a Relay Team.  The sports will take place at various venues within Rugby School.  We have also entered eight pieces of art work done by various children entitled ‘The Olympic Dream’.  This is on display in the Lewis Gallery and is open to the public between 3.30 and 5.00 p.m.  The Lewis Gallery can be accessed from the Bookshop entrance in Barby Road (opposite Horton Crescent) and then follow the path round to the left.

Heat Reduction – During the Easter holiday the school has had reflective film fitted to the windows on the Oak site.  This has been done to try to reduce the heat in the south facing rooms of the building.

Holiday Forms – I am not supposed to authorise holidays during term time.  Please do not submit holiday forms without accompanying written evidence attached to the form as to why the holiday needs to be taken in term time.  Conversations with my office staff are not acceptable.  I must have evidence in writing before the holiday can be authorised.  It is not possible for me to speak to every parent as my work load and time does not allow it.

Credit Crunch Course – The following is details of a course run by Citizens Advice Bureau in co-ordination with Extended Schools in the Hillmorton Area.
Hit by the credit crunch?

Following feedback from parents asking for support through this difficult time we have worked together with other schools in our cluster to offer support.
A free four week course run by the Citizens Advice Bureau is starting on Tuesday 12th May 6pm-7.30pm at Hillmorton Children's Centre, Watts Lane, Hillmorton.

It will give help with budgeting, benefit entitlement and banking and credit. Places are limited and must be booked in advance. To book your place or for further information contact Jo Fricker Extended Services Co-ordinator for Hillmorton on 07964 293236.
