Friends of the School
There will be a meeting of the Friends of the School at 2.00p.m. on Tuesday 7 th November, in the library at the Acorn site. We are trying to organise a children's disco this term and an event for next term. If you have never been to a meeting, please come along and find out how you can support the school.
Harvest Assembly
Thank you to all the parents who came along to St Georges Church. Our collection for Thandigoudi (the Goodwill Children's Home in India that we support) raised £251.05. After the assembly in the church a ladies cream coat was left behind. It is in school waiting to be claimed! Also, I think a child has picked up the wrong coat. We have a black, ‘parker style' coat with fur round the hood, in school. The missing coat has the child's name on the label in the side seam. If your child has a coat like this, could you please check that you have the correct coat.
Inset Day
Can I remind parents that we have a Teacher Training day on Monday 20 th November, when the children will not be in school. Staff are learning about drama and role play.
Modern Foreign Languages
All the children in Key Stage 2 (Oak site) have started learning Spanish. Every class is having a Spanish lesson supported by our Modern Foreign Languages student.
Curriculum Targets
This year we have started using whole school curricular targets. This means that all classes are working on targets on the same theme. Last half term children were working on punctuation and shape targets. This week we will be finalising the targets for this half term. In each class there are three differentiated targets to challenge different groups of children.
Children's University
This term the school will join the Children's University for the junior children. This is to help develop a lifelong love of learning in our children. They will be encouraged to try different new clubs and if they complete 8 hours of study, they will receive certificates which build up to awards from the Children's University. More details about this will follow.
