Canal Art

Turning our sketches into larger drawings

This week, we have been looking at the sort of art which you can find on the side of canal boats. As you'll know if you've ever seen any, they tend to be brightly coloured flowers. First of all we copied into our sketchbooks using pencils, using a viewfinder to concentrate on any details in the flower. These were coloured in using pencil crayons which we blended before transferring the designs onto larger pieces of sugar paper which we coloured using pastels.

The story we're reading at the moment is called "Whistling Jack" by Linda Newbery. It's all about  dog who lives with his master on a canal boat and what happens one day when he gets left behind. We're all hoping it's got a happy ending!

At the bottom of this blog you'll find this week's homework, just in case you need it.
