All about animals.

It has been another buys week at Paddox and we are well and truly into our 'All Creatures Great and Small' topic.

It has been lovely hearing all about your child's pets and how they help look after them at home (the assure us they are all very involved, especially with cleaning cages/hutches and bedding). We have been very impressed at the different levels knowledge your children have shared with us about their animals; this information ranges from favourite toys to special diets and even which pets give the best cuddles!

To harness the children's enthusiasm we have been reading 'Dear Zoo' and exploring what animals they would ask the zoo for. The writing focus was around short sentences and your children have really impressed us with both their understanding of phonics and remembering to use High 5 (Capital letters at the start of a sentence. Finger spaces between each word. Full stops at the end of a sentence. Using their phonic knowledge to spell. Making sure the sentence makes sense).

In Maths this week, we have been looking at subtraction. The children have been practising crossing off pictures in a group to show they can take away successfully. This has been a bit of a challenge for some children but all have given it a good go!

Well done Reception on another awesome week!
