Today in Design and Technology, we investigated different switches and how they work in preparation for making our own torches.  To begin with, we created a simple circuit and then thought about what would make a good conductor of electricity and act as a switch.  To help us investigate, we could choose from a paper clip, split pins, drawing pins and staples.  Most of us favoured using a paperclip with split pins.  This enabled the electricity to flow around the circuit successfully until we slid the paperclip away from one of the split pins.
