Let’s find out what Reception have been up to over the past few weeks…

We have had a very busy few weeks in Reception!

Over the past few weeks we have really progressed in our learning, and we are having a go at a variety of Maths and Phonics activities. In Maths, we have been learning all about numbers 2 and 3; we have been learning about different ways to represent these numbers and have practised writing them. In phonics, we have now learnt our first 4 sounds; these are s, a, t and p. We love listening to the phonics songs and joining in with the actions!

We have also been learning about Black History Month, we found out lots of information about Usain Bolt and his achievements; some of us had a go at racing outside just like Usain Bolt, and we all practised his well-known pose! We had a go at making salt dough medals and we designed our own medals too. In our topic sessions over the past week, we have had a focus on History and so we looked at lots of photos of us as babies and toddlers; comparing what has changed from then until now. We enjoyed guessing which baby photo was of our friends and we even looked at photos of our teachers from when they were babies. We have also started our first ICT lessons which have been based around taking photos on Ipads; we loved asking our friends to ‘strike a pose’ and taking photos of our classrooms.
