Another busy week in Year 2.

This week we have been writing stories all about a circus animal. We used Dumbo for inspiration, creating characters that had a distinguishing feature, such as big ears! The children did a fantastic job, starting by planning their story and then writing. We focused on remembering capital letters and using and as a conjunction.

In Numeracy we’ve worked on adding and taking away 10. We used hundred squares to help up and thought about the tens and ones columns. We also practised missing number sequences, counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. Some of us even practised missing numbers in 3’s.

In Science we’ve thought about the needs of a plant. To investigate this we are feeding plants different liquids to see what will happen to them. We are testing milk, water, washing up liquid, lemon juice, coke and oil. Hopefully we will see some interesting results!
