Autumn Week 5
We’ve made some beautiful water colour pictures in Year 2 this week! The children really tried their best and have created some masterpieces. Watercolour paints were a new skill for lots of the children but they really rose to the challenge, doing a super job. Next week we will use fine liner pens to add detail to our art before putting them all on display.
In Create this week we’ve been looking at the book “Leon and the Place Between” which we’ve all really enjoyed. We are preparing to write a description of our own magical places between. The children have found lots of new language and vocabulary in the story, which they’ve magpied (borrowed) and have practised using these in expanded noun phrases.
In Numeracy we’ve had a week of shape, both 2D and 3D. The children have good shape name knowledge so we’ve focused on different shapes properties. In particular we’ve learnt the new vocabulary vertices (corners) and edges for 3D shapes. We also spent a memorable afternoon making our own 3D shapes with nets. The children found this very challenging as they had to use all their scissor skills and they were quite fiddly!
Don’t forget next week in intra sports on Tuesday morning so the children will need their outdoor PE kits and coloured t-shirt/jumper in school that day.
