Animals galore!
We have had an animal themed week in Year 2 and this started when we all learnt about the story of Charlotte's Web. We had great fun writing to persuade the judges (Mrs Makings and Miss Measey) to allow our animals to enter the county show. They took some convincing because our animals included owls, crocodiles, wolves, ostriches and cheetahs!
We have also enjoyed designing and creating our masks ready for the Teddy Bear Picnic which is happening next week. We are planning ahead and thinking about Tuesday's trip to Twycross Zoo. A reminder letter was sent out today and will also be uploaded on the website.
It was the last week in our broad bean science investigation and lots of the beans had grown well. We were surprised to find that the beans in the dark cupboard had grown the biggest. We updated our bean diaries for the final time.
In create we have started investing features of a newspaper article and were able to caption some hilarious animal pictures. In numeracy Miss Measey's group have been learning the expanded method for addition. Mrs Makings' group have been using strategies for answering and writing their own addition and subtraction word problems.
We loved seeing all of the parents at open book afternoon and were very proud to show off our wonderful work. Finally, congratulations to Lauren. N, Max, Annabel, Lily, Izzy, Lewis and Simona as they were celebrated in assembly.
We hope you have enjoyed reading this blog which has been written today by Mrs Makings and the children in 2M.
