Who knew toilet roll could help us create a timeline!
Today we looked at the historical timeline of events. Using toilet roll, we thought about how many years each sheet could represent and then plotted the different periods of time. Initially we thought that each sheet could be worth a century (100 years) but we soon found out that we would not have enough paper to show how long the Stone Age lasted so we changed it so that each sheet represented a millennium (1000 years). It really helped us to understand how long these periods in History lasted.
The children also discussed what chronology means and understood that when we think about History, we are looking at different periods that are organised by time.
