A busy start to Autumn Term in Year 4

Great start

The children have had a fantastic start to Year 4 - we can't believe it's already October, yet we have done so much in the past four weeks.

In English, we have been blown away by the children's writing based on our current text 'The Boy at the Back of the Class'. We have seen similes, onomatopoeia's and excellent personification - we can't wait to see the children's writing develop further this year after a great start!

In Maths, we have got to grips with four-digit numbers and the children have been demonstrating their knowledge of Place Value (and even Roman Numerals!).

It is the Year of Humanities at Paddox and we have been learning Map Skills in Geography this half term. We have located the continents and five oceans of the World, found out more about the United Kingdom and looked at four-digit and six-digit grid references. We've just about fathomed how to fold an Ordnance Survey map too!

In Science, we have been identifying and classifying living things. We've also increased our knowledge on vertebrates - ask us about MR FAB and MRS GREN which are acronyms to help us remember more!

It's been a busy start, with an author visit and workshop, Forest School, Life Skills (we've learned the Recovery Position) and Intrasports too! We couldn't be prouder as the children have given everything their all and settled in quickly.
