Kandinsky!

Circles

This week in Create, we have been learning about Kandinsky. We looked at his paintings and found out that he likes to use circles in a lot of his work. We therefore had a go at creating our own pictures in the style of Kandinsky, using circular objects from around the classroom to drew circles of different sizes on our pieces of paper.  With pastels, we coloured in our circles and smudged them using our fingers so that the colours blended together. We really enjoyed this part and we ended up with very colourful hands (and tables!).

In Numeracy this week, we have been counting in twos, fives and tens. We found this quite tricky to start with but we are getting there after some practice, using our number lines and number squares.

We would like to say a big well done to all the children in Year 1 for a great first half term. They have settled in really well and are working very hard.  We hope you all have a lovely half term and we look forward to hearing all about what you have been up to when we are back!
