Writing allows children to exercise their creativity and imagination. At Paddox, we incorporate elements of ‘The Write Stuff’ scheme into our English lessons, which involves using the ‘FANTASTICS’ lenses to summarise the ideas of writing. The FANTASTICs allow for vocabulary building; creating a space for children not only to ‘imagine’ and ‘notice’ what they see in their story, but to delve deeper and ‘smell’, ‘touch’ and ‘feel’ it too.
We also encourage children to understand the importance of grammar, with the emphasis that grammar and writing go hand-in-hand. We guide pupils, through a collaborative approach, to competently create independent written tasks, encouraging them as authors and building on their resilience to flourish as successful writers.
